I agree. The American sense of entitlement is much to blame, as is the desire to live far beyond our means. However, I ask you this. Are you certain if you were not in that crowd that you could have stopped and not trampled the man? The surge from behind pushing people forward would have been intense and those and the front woudl have been pushed forward despite their best efforts to stop. Think of how you have been pushed around like a human pinball at parades etc. Have you ever been to Times Square on New Years Eve? They have the barriers for a reason.
Yes, WalMart should have had increased security. Yes, Walmart should have implemented greater measures to ensure such a tragedy did not happen. But it was just the luck of the draw that it happened at WalMart and not any of the other places that had Black Friday sales.
If you recall there is a reason they now have wristbands when concert tickets go on sale.
