In your post today, you showed a very serious disrespect for religion and for the Jewish people. You are cursing a very serious matter which our g-d has commanded us to follow. Maybe religious belief and the word of g-d is something that its very easy for you to think is a joke but it doesnt give you the right to drag g-d and his people through the mud. Look at the comments on your post. youve made a place for people to come and be anti-semitic and laugh at Jews.
You have freedom of speech because of our great country which I hope you appreciate.
What you do not have is the right to do is to discriminate on people based on their appearance or their religion. What you did to this man was illegal, in g-d's eyes yes, and since you dont care, let me remind you it is ILLEGAL according to the state of New York as well.
Let me give you this offer. Tomorrow, for your post, you make it one big apology to the jewish people. Give us that post. Explain why you wrote what you wrote, and why it was wrong. Just have respect, be respectful, apologize, and we can go our seperate ways.

From my reading of it he was rejected because he sucked, not because of the religion (though it was a relief that he sucked) So there could have been potential discrimination but because of his suckery (legal HR term) no religious discrimination took place.

I hope someone with some applicable legal experience will speak from it here. It's not enough that we got BN's back. It's not enough to flame chassids and scream hypocrisy on Astute Reader. In all this talk of the chassids' warped perspective we're overlooking the most important question: Is there a case here, and if there's a case is it so strong a case that Astute Reader is likely to carry it through and threaten my favorite lunchtime taco reading?
That the guy sucked may not matter so much as what BN has said about chassids in this blog. If the law sees an ounce of prejudice in what he's written here, it's not a stretch to assume that prejudice contributed to BN's assessment of the guy's tech skills. Say what you will about whether it's okay for a public-facing employee to refuse to handshake someone because of a pair of tits; we can call that warped, but I don't think there's any legal guarantee to the gender-blind distribution of handshakes. There is, however, plenty of legal guarantee surrounding distribution of jobs, and that's the shit that makes this serious.

Ok, I'm going to try to respond without talking out of my ass here as I am not a lawyer, but have been involved in situations like this before
(where someone feels egregiously wronged by some shit some total stranger wrote on the internet and then threatens to sue) and in my experience both as someone who was supposedly culpable for what I had written and in watching people who have been in the same situation not ONCE ever did I see someone actually successfully follow through on this sort of action.
It's all a lot of bullshit and hot air from a legal perspective as far as I can tell. Nothing you wrote in that piece seems libelous, it's presented purely as opinion doesn't name any names and contrary to what that douchebag thinks, isn't really racist.
NOW, that having been said this man, still has the potential to wreak havoc in your life if he has the means to discover your identity, he can forward this to your employer, your wife, your moms, whatever and whether or not that does any damage is entirely predicated on the attitudes of the people it's sent to as well as BN's relationship with them.

I just took the FL Bar Exam last week. I don't know NY law specifically, but I know a lot of multi-state common law b/c of that damn exam..Anyways, the Chassid could try a few things, all of which would likely fail against the BN personally.
If there's a discrimination claim re: the job applicant, the responsibility there would rest w/ the company and maybe hiring decision-makers, not the BN. Not to say anything wrong was done, but a claim there couldn't name the BN as a Defendant.
This guy could try some sort of defamation claim, but that would fail b/c there's no statement of fact, only opinions. He could try negligent infliction of emotional distress, but that won't work w/o some physical injury.
Finally, he could try intentional infliction of emotional distress, which doesn't require physical injury, only severe emotional distress stemming from an "extreme or outrageous" intentional statement. This seems like the best bet, although I seriously doubt it would ever fly in a courtroom based on a situation like this. Then again, crazier things have happened and it only takes one judge or jury to make it happen.
All that being said, don't apologize BN. You've done nothing wrong, only stated an opinion. That's what this site is based on, thrives on even - the free exchange of opinions. If some jackass tries to write Google about ads on your site and gets some pulled, I will personally start up a collection of contributions to pay any fees you may have to keep this site running. If the jackass comes after your family, then you have a real lawsuit you can file

lawyer here. assuming for argument's sake that there was actionable discrimination, astute reader has no standing to sue you; he was not the one "discriminated" against. however, the reality is, the company you work for is probably politically correct, and if they got letters from this guy outing you as "bn" and claiming you were a racist, you'd probably be asked to find another job. you are probably an at-will employee and employers CAN fire you for your personal activities (like blogging), shit, they can decline to hire you for what's on your myspace page. legally this guy's not got a leg to stand on; realistically, if he can find out who you are and he has the will to ruin your life, he pretty much can.
